About Service

Do you support us if we travel outside of Vancouver?
FSS only deals with schools that provide great support and therefore we feel confident they will support you while traveling outside of Vancouver. If you do require extra support while traveling we offer telephone/Email consultation.

Do we have to pay anything beyond the service fee? (membership fees / commission)
No. Once you pay the service fee you are covered. Occasionally, we do charge a fee for some homestay costs.
Can you arrange the air ticket?
Please arrange the air ticket yourself.

Can I buy insurance from your company?
We sell private health insurance at bargain prices. Please check the link.

Can you hold my luggage?
This service is only for the members who apply for a package plan (free) or apply for school ($25).

About Application

I enrolled in a school for three months, but can I cancel the last month?
Each school has their own policy regarding cancellation. Usually a penalty will occur. Please ask us about it.

Why do I have to include my birthday on the application?
It is necessary to get a student visa.
How can I pay you?
You can use a cable transfer, VISA or Master Card. If you choose a cable transfer, you can transfer the money from the nearest bank to our bank account directly. When you use a cable transfer, there will be a service charge of about $50 (depends on the bank). (VISA = 3.4% , Master Card = 3%) We can help you decide on the best way to pay.

Our bank account infromation for a cable transfer is here

You can pay in person at our office. We accept VISA, Master Card, cheque and cash.

About Homestay

What kind of host-families do you have?
All our host-families have been thoroughly interviewed; we have visited the homes to check for a high level of comfort. We only accept homestay families that can provide a comfortable living environment.

How do you decide on a host-family for us?
We use a client survey, and make sure that the family fits the student’s needs.

Do you have the same services as other places?
When you apply to a school outside of Vancouver, you must use the school’s policy.
Which kind of host-family do you recommend?
We recommend Asian families. In the past, we have noticed that Asian families work the best for Asian international students. Food and cultural understanding are very important for students. Usually, Asian Canadians are better at understanding international students’ needs. Of course the families we recommend are people who have immigrated a long time ago and grew up in Canada as native English speakers.

I’m worried about my relationship with my host-family.
You will be treated like a member of the family. There are rules and responsibilities.

When do I have to inform my host family if I want to leave or stay longer?
Usually, 1 month is considered enough time for any changes. Students should try to give their homestay families as much time as possible. Failure to do so may result in a penalty.

About School

Do you have a tuition discount?
We do not have a tuition discount. However, we offer scholarships and counseling services.

Please suggest a school with no Japanese students.
There are lots of foreign students in Vancouver. Therefore, very difficult to find a school that has no Japanese students.

Do you recommend any schools outside of BC?
We can recommend many schools outside of BC, particularly if you are interested in attending university or college.
Do you recommend any schools that are not on your website?
Yes, our counselors can recommend schools that will suit your needs.

I want to get some qualification while in Vancouver.
Please ask us. We can help find some vocational schools that will suit your English level. Please check here about vocational schools.

I want to go to university, but the tuition is expensive.
We have more information about university and college than any other agency. We can help you find a university that will fit your budget.

Is it possible to transfer overseas credits to Canada?
It depends on the school. Please ask us.

About Working Holiday

How much money should I bring?
The average is somewhere between $5,000- to $8,000-. It depends on your plan while in Canada. If you are going to work, then you can bring less money. If you plan on traveling then you should bring more.

How can I find a job?
You can check newspapers, websites, etc.
Can I find work immediately?
It depends on the season, your English skills, etc. It is generally easy to find a job in a restaurant. However, if your Visa is going to expire, it gets harder to find a job.

Is it okay that I don’t understand English at all?
Vancouver is a friendly city for those who do not speak English. There are Japanese language newspapers and Japanese support services. Also, we offer a conversation club for beginners. You can practice survival English skills.
